Trauma-informed counselling

A respectful place to support recovery after historical childhood trauma.

Private counselling for adults living with the present-day effects of historical child sexual abuse, neglect or other harmful childhood experiences.

A woman pausing on a quiet coastal path

You set the pace. You do not need to tell your whole story, prove what happened or use particular words. Counselling can begin with what is affecting you now.

Support shaped around the person

Counselling for recovery after historical child sexual abuse and neglect can make room for the ways earlier experiences may still affect trust, safety, relationships, grief, identity, boundaries and everyday wellbeing.

The approach is trauma-informed, collaborative and consent-led. This means explaining choices and boundaries clearly, avoiding pressure to disclose, noticing what helps you feel steady enough to participate and respecting your right to pause or change direction.

Counselling may explore

  • Present-day effects and patterns
  • Safety, grounding and emotional regulation
  • Shame, self-blame, grief and identity
  • Relationships, trust and boundaries
  • Strengths, values and meaningful recovery

This service does not provide

  • Emergency or crisis response
  • Legal advice or Redress application support
  • Forensic assessment or evidence gathering
  • A requirement to recover memories
  • Promises about outcomes or timelines

What the first conversation can look like

The first session focuses on getting to know one another, what has brought you to counselling and what would help you feel comfortable enough to begin. Confidentiality and its limits, consent, practical arrangements and possible goals are explained in plain English.

If the fit does not feel right, you can say so. Where another service is better placed to help, this will be discussed honestly.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to talk about the abuse in detail?

No. You choose what you share and when. Work can focus on present-day needs and recovery without a detailed account.

Is this an official National Redress Scheme service?

No. Whole Warrior Solutions is an independent counselling practice and does not claim Scheme endorsement or official status. Some authorised organisations may broker counselling, subject to confirmation of scope and funding.

Can I choose not to have Bella present?

Yes. Canine-assisted sessions are always optional. A dog-free appointment is available and your choice will not reduce the care offered.

Where are sessions available?

Telehealth is available across Australia. Central Coast and other agreed options are discussed on enquiry and depend on suitability and availability.

This is not a crisis service. If there is immediate danger, call 000. For confidential information and support relating to sexual violence, contact 1800RESPECT ↗.
